  The Chess Pieces King Movement: Can move one square in any direction (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally). Queen Movement: Can move any number of squares in any direction (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally). Bishop Movement: Can move any number of squares diagonally. Knight Movement: Moves in an 'L' shape, two squares in one direction and then one square perpendicular. This is the only piece that can "jump" over others. Rook Movement: Can move any number of squares vertically or horizontally. Pawn Movement: Moves one square forward but can move two squares forward on its first move.
